Joseph T Gallagher, OD joined the practice of THE EYE STORE and THE EYE SHOPPE in June of 2008 having practiced in Roxborough Pennsylvania for the previous 22 years. He began his career in eye care as an optician having earned his degree in ophthalmic science at Camden County Community College in Blackwood New Jersey in 1978. Dr. Gallagher decided to pursue his education at Temple University and ultimately earned his Doctorate in Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in May 1986. Dr. Gallagher offers comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens services. Visual Field Examinations are available at both locations and The Eye Shoppe offers Retinal Photo services.
The Eye Store in the Dreshertown Plaza and The Eye Shoppe in the Collegeville Shopping Center, is pleased to announce Eric J. Neelans, O.D. has joined the optometric staff. Dr. Neelans offers comprehensive family eye care, contact lens services and co-management services for ophthalmologically treated patients for cataract, Lasik and PRK procedures. Dr. Neelans is accepting new patients at both locations.
A Doylestown native, Dr. Neelans pursued his undergraduate studies earning his B.S. in Chemistry in 2001 at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. Dr. Neelans received his Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and Doctor of Optometry, from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, now Salus University, in Elkins Park, PA in 2008.
Upon graduation, Dr. Neelans was commissioned in the Army and completed his residency in Primary Care Optometry at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX through Northeastern State University College of Optometry. In 2009, Dr. Neelans went on a humanitarian mission to Guatemala to provide eye care to underserved communities. In 2010, Dr. Neelans was deployed to Iraq for 12 months to serve US servicemen and women. In late 2014, Dr. Neelans completed his service in the Army and returned to Pennsylvania.
Dr. Neelans is married and has two young children. He enjoys spending time with this family, traveling, baseball and reading history. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 2013.
Jeffrey Kehr, owner of THE EYE STORE and THE EYE SHOPPE, is a 1978 graduate of Camden County College holding his Associate in Science in Ophthalmic Science Degree. As an independent optician, Mr. Kehr is pleased to offer the best-suited products to accommodate ones prescription. Jeffrey is continuously updating the frame selection at both locations to accommodate the styles and needs for men, women and children. Sports eyewear and safety eyewear are also available at both locations. He has availability to specialized lens manufacturers for high-tech prescription requirements. This allows for exceptional lens choices for ones’ prescription needs. He specializes in complicated prescription needs and emergency optical repairs. By having availability to all the advancements in lens technology and in utilizing State-Of-The-Art edging equipment for the fabrication of each pair of eyeglasses in their on-site laboratory, Mr. Kehr can offer totally custom eyewear.
Judy Kehr is a graduate of Temple University School of Dental Hygiene. As a licensed registered dental hygienist, Judy worked full time in private practice from 1978 to 1987. In addition to dental hygiene, Judy has worked along side her husband Jeffrey since 1979 in their family optical business. Having in essence apprenticed the optical business from Jeffrey, Judy enjoys working with the clientele in frame and lens selections. Judy works between both locations, providing both optical and administrative services. She is currently working full time at THE EYE SHOPPE.
As a member of the Staff of THE EYE STORE and THE EYE SHOPPE since July 2000, Kermit Royer offers quality optical services for men, women and children. Kermit started in the optical industry in February 1973 working as an optician in his fathers’ family business in Norristown, PA. In January 1985, Kermit and his father formed a partnership until January 1991 when Kermit became a sole proprietor of the business. His knowledge of the optical industry and optical fabrication provides each client with the best possible choices for their prescription needs. Kermit works at THE EYE STORE location Monday through Friday and occasionally on Saturday at THE EYE SHOPPE.
